11th Chronic Illness Awareness Day
Chinese Cancer and Chronic Illness Society of Victoria (CCCIS) hosted its 11th annual Chronic Illness Awareness Day at the Hawthorn Library on Saturday, October 26th, 2024. The event, officially opened by Mr Richard Welch MP, Member for North Eastern Metropolitan Region, aimed to raise awareness about chronic illness prevention and medical treatments, as well as empower individuals to better manage their chronic conditions.
Four specialists delivered informative presentations on common thyroid conditions, chronic back pain, immunotherapy, and emergency care. The audience appreciated the opportunity to interact with the specialists and expressed gratitude for the new knowledge gained.
Dorothy Yiu, Chairperson of the Society, concluded the event by encouraging individuals living with chronic illnesses to take charge of their health by eating well, engaging in regular exercise, staying connected with the community, and prioritizing mental wellbeing. Dorothy also acknowledged the hard work of all volunteers who made the event a resounding success.
